To help ensure the health and well being of your new kitten,
McClung's Animal Hospital recommends this series of vaccinations.
1st visit
Wellness exam, feline Leukemia test, first feline temporary distemper complex,
first feline leukemia, deworm
2nd visit Second
feline distemper complex, feline leukemia (if too young @ 1st visit), deworm,
one year Rabies
3rd visit Feline
leukemia, one year Rabies(if too young @ 2nd visit),fecal, flea preventative,
heartworm preventative
Cats receive vaccinations annually, MAH will send vaccination
reminders when due.
Declawing Kittens
Declawing surgeries are done by appointment Monday thru Thursday and should
be brought in between 8:00am-10:00am. The kitten will stay with us two
nights to allow MAH staff to care for the paws post surgically. We require
that you call before picking up the kitten after surgery to make sure they are
ready to go home. Please do not feed your animal the morning you are
bringing them in for surgery. Only a small amount of food and water should
be given to the kitten the day he/she is taken home.
Spaying or Castrating Kittens
At the second vaccination, your kitten is old enough to be spayed/castrated.
Surgeries are done by appointment Monday thru Thursday and should arrive here
between 8:00am-10:00am. The kitten will stay with us overnight. We
require that you call before picking up the kitten the day after surgery to make
sure it is ready to go home. Females return 7-10 days after surgery to get
stitches removed. Please do not feed your animal the morning you are
bringing it in for surgery. Only a small amount of food and water should
be given to the kitten the day he/she is taken home. Kittens must have
vaccinations before being spayed/castrated.
Kittens in the clinic with a flea problem will be treated.
Kittens may be declawed and spayed/castrated at the same time.
Flea Control
McClung's Animal Hospital veterinarians and staff will advise you about
proper flea control for your cat and environment.
